Abstract
Optical detection of methane gas based on its absorption at particular wavelengths has attracted considerable attention recently. The methane detection systems reported so far use either a laser source coupled with wavelength modulation spectroscopy1,2 or a relative wide-band source (e.g., LED) together a “comb” filter3,4. Recently, the broadband source - comb filtering scheme has been sucessfully used for an evanescent wave methane sensor5,6.
