Abstract

There are three basic methods to produce optical elements. These methods have some additional improvements and combinations developed by optical elements manufacturers that will be mentioned, as well. The development of this technology, driven by the industry’s demand for better-quality, quicker, and cheaper capabilities, has also improved the production of optical elements. Fabrication of optical raw materials and coatings is not considered to be part of the basic optical-element fabrication. Cementing for producing doublets, triplets, or beamsplitters is described in Chapter 7.
