Abstract

As of March 2009, the DoD employed a total of 1217 display sizes relative to all force projection categories/groups, e.g., combat platforms, C2 centers, dismounted soldier applications, etc. The number of platforms should not be equated with the number of acquisition programs. This is because variants of a base platform, e.g., F-16A, -B, -C, and -D models (four variants), are counted separately but are nevertheless part of the same weapon-system program.
