Abstract
Error transferred by shading correction in image signal detection is studied in terms of two models for image formation and nonlinear sensor characteristics. Error due to changes in primary image signal, dark signal and constant field signal was investigated by simulation. It was found that error is not sensitive to the models used, and error can be less than for the linear case. Simulation results can be used for selecting sensor characteristics and useful dynamic range in terms of error tolerance.
