Abstract
The purpose of the fluorescence and Raman experiments in this study is to identify the cause of the red shift in the observed fluorescence emission of coronary arteries after laser ablation. In addition the identity of the molecular bonds broken in the photoablation process has been probed. These identifications are necessary, if one is to understand the laser tissue interaction and to monitor this interaction in a laser angioplasty procedure.
