Abstract
The hydropower plant has been operating for more than 20 years since it was put into operation. With the commissioning of the upstream and downstream cascade hydropower plants, the operating water head of the power plant has been greatly changed compared with the initial design, and problems such as poor operating conditions and frequent accidents occur. Therefore, the technical transformation of the hydropower unit is imminent. The purpose of this paper is to solve the problem of changing the operating water head and improve the output and stability of the unit. Through research with the design institute and other units, it was decided to replace only the more efficient runner on the basis of not changing the diameter and flow path of the runner. After the technical transformation, the operation effect is good, and the stability and economic benefits have been greatly improved. This transformation can provide a reference for the transformation of the same type of units.
