Abstract
As the global population ages, the design of smart home products for the elderly plays a crucial role in improving their quality of life. To enhance elderly satisfaction with these products and help designers understand their needs accurately, we propose a design method based on Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). We first collect requirements from the elderly and designers through interviews and questionnaires, transforming them into design elements. Using factor analysis, we categorize these elements. Then, with SEM, we analyze the priority of design elements quantitatively and propose relevant design strategies. The paper establishes an innovative design process guided by user needs, providing a systematic approach and strategies for the design of smart home products for the elderly.
