Abstract

Typhoon is one of the major threats to the safe and stable operation of power systems among all kinds of natural disasters. This paper proposes a prediction model for the damage of transmission towers under typhoon disasters based on the Random Forest (RF) algorithm with 1km*1km refined spatial grids. The model is applied to predict the data related to the damage of transmission towers caused by Typhoon "Meihua" hitting Zhoushan City, Zhejiang Province, China. The results show that compared with models based on four other commonly used algorithms, the model based on the random forest algorithm is the most scientific, effective, and accurate.
