Abstract
This report investigates the performance of a CCD-echelle spectrograph designed for Raman spectroscopy. A holographic band-reject filter is used to reject elastically scattered light without seriously reducing the instrument throughput. The capabilities of this instrument are demonstrated by a cyclohexane spectrum collected in 300 milliseconds with 12 milliwatts of laser power, and by a spectrum of 1% L-phenylalanine in water.
