Abstract

The Alxa Block, located on the northeastern edge of the Tibetan Plateau, is largely covered by deserts. In this study, gravity and magnetotelluric (MT) data measured within the range of (38°N-40°N, 102°E-105°E), as well as three-dimensional joint inversion technology, were used to generate a geophysical dataset for the study area. Three-dimensional density and resistivity models were created. By analyzing overlays and RGB composites of the density and resistivity models at different depths, we have deepened our understanding of deformation mechanisms at the front edge of the Tibetan Plateau and the western margin of the Ordos block. This study has important scientific significance in expanding the resource potential of the region and reassessing the background and mechanisms of basin formation.
