Abstract
A new method is proposed to calculate the Strehi Definition for optical systems lacking rotational symmetry. The Strehi Definition(S. D) is one of the commonly used criterion for evaluating the quality of an optical system especially for the microscopic objectives. It is will known that the S. D is defined as follows S. D 7-2 J1J1exp[-27riW(x y)dxdy I 2 (1) Where w(x y) is wave aberrations and (x y) is the coordinate of the pupil plane. For a high quality optical system S. D can be expressed as S. D 1 (2)2[W2(x W(x y) 2j (2) In order to calculate the S. D of the decentral optical system precisely both lateral and longitudinal defocus should be considered simultaneously. The corresponding aberration coefficients are C C01 (along y-direction) and C0 (along x-direction). Owing to the optical systems lacking relational symmetry the asymmetrical aberrations central astigmatism C21 and central coma C should be added in the wave aberration function i. e. the wave aberration for the system lacking symmetry is W(x y) C(x+ y) + C(x + y)2 + C(x + y)3 + C(x + + C02y2+ C22(x2 +y)y + C42(x+?)Y + C62(x+?)3? + Cy4 + C24(x2 + y)y4 + C + y)2y4 + C(x2 + + C41(x2 + y2)2y + C61(x2 + y)3y + Cd + C + y2)y3 +C43(x2+y2)+C01y+C1 x+Cx2+C1 (x2+?)x (3) After tedious but straightforward integral calculation equation
