Abstract
An overview of the field of reconfigurable optical interconnection is presented. Recent breakthrough in the elimination of fan-out energy loss using photorefractive holograms is discussed. Novel concepts using photorefractive crystal fibers for mode conversion and energy-efficient fan-in are presented and discussed.
