Abstract
Edge detection is one of the most important stages in a chain of pattern recognition by vision. Many studies have been devoted to the problems of edge detection, however, a large number of difficulties remain (thick edge, sensitivity to noise, important calculation time and memory space). In this paper we present an optimization of an edge detection method using oriented gradients by introducing the notion of visual perception to validate or reject the edge points. This notion has been modelized from the different visual appreciations of several simulated images.
