26 July 1993Aspheric achromatic corrector plates for the correction of higher order chromatic aberration
Aspheric achromatic corrector plates for the classical Schmidt camera (see figure 1) have been designed in order to correct the chromatic variation of spherical aberration. The achromatic corrector plate consists of two cemented plated comprised of a crown-flint pair of glasses with at least two of its surfaces being aspheric. An analytical method for the derivation of the aspheric surfaces of the achromatic corrector plate, for the classical Schmidt camera has been developed. The method permits the direct evaluation of aspheric coefficients of any order in the polynomial expansion of the aspheric surface of the corrector plate.
