Abstract
Spatial field effects in various aspects of the laser operation are discussed. These effects are investigated in Fabry-Perot as well as distributed feedback lasers. In particular, influence of the spatial field distribution on the output power, relaxation oscillations, and noise level in the laser structures are discussed.
