Abstract
The goal of computed radiography (CR) acceptance testing is to establish the storage phosphor reader and phosphor screen baseline performance. Quality control testing then detects changes in the CR system that could affect radiographic image quality. These tests currently require multiple exposures that are laser printed on film, and evaluated subjectively and using optical density measurements. Soft copy digital images have rarely been used to characterize CR systems. This paper presents an automated test target for the acceptance and quality control testing of Kodak storage phosphor readers. By using digital images for testing, the CR system can be evaluated independent of laser printer, film, and film processing effects.
