19 August 1996 Stray light characterization of optical systems

Abstract
A new stray light test facility developed by SODERN for space instruments characterization is described. The main purpose of this instrumentation is to measure the point source transmittance (PST) and non-uniformity for attenuations up to 10 degrees but the instrumentation design, capacities and performances have been sized to perform tests on a broad variety of instruments or sub- assemblies. The test and checking process to achieve a perfect instrument reliability will be discussed. The limiting factors of the bench performances, including cleanliness level, air, source and light trap scattering have been estimated and measured to determine the level of unwanted stray-light.
