1 September 1996Observation of green upconversion fluorescence from Ho+3 ions assisted by energy transfer and excited state absorption in a Tm+3-Ho+3 codoped silica fiber
The visible upconversion fluorescence centered at 548 nm, the 5F4,5S2→5I8 transition of Ho+3 was observed when a Tm/Ho co-doped silica fiber was pumped around the absorption band of 3F4 manifold of Tm+3. Excitation spectra were measured in the range of 730-860 nm. The infrared fluorescence around 2.03 μm, 5I7→5I8 transition of Ho+3 was also measured to understand the role of energy transfer.
