Abstract
Polarization insensitive multi-channel narrow-spacing wavelength division multiplexers (MNWDMs) based on fused and tapered single-mode optical fiber coupler are reported. The devices, operating from 1320 nm to 1520 nm, can de- /multiplex over 20 channels, with channel spacing on the order of 10 nm. The MNWDMs are fabricated from fused fiber couplers that are elongated to an isotropic point where the coupling coefficients of two polarization states are equal (Cx equals Cy). Theoretical analysis is also provided.
