Abstract
In passive fiber optic components adhered by pure epoxy- adhesive, the coupling efficiency decreased by the maximum of 5.27 dB when temperature increased from 23 degrees Celsius to 100 degrees Celsius, but it only increased by less than 2 dB when temperature decreased from 100 degrees Celsius to 23 degrees Celsius. The coupling efficiency in 23 degrees Celsius differed by nearly 3 dB and the experiment curve was not coincident. When we doped 100 wt% of 200 mesh iron powder in pure epoxy-adhesive, the coupling efficiency was nearly unchanged with the maximum difference of 0.2 dB and the experiment curve was coincident in the course of temperature increasing from 23 degrees Celsius to 100 degrees Celsius and decreasing from 100 degrees Celsius to 23 degrees Celsius. This method improves greatly temperature stability of passive fiber optic components adhered by epoxy-adhesive and enhances effectively reliability of fiber optic sensors used in engineering applications.
