Abstract
A symmetrization procedure for astigmatic laser-diode beams with different values of beam propagation factors Mx2 and My2 by means of a conversion into twisted beams of axisymmetrical X-shaped variance matrix is proposed. Properties of the symmetrization are analyzed and practically realizable optical systems consisting of twisted, cylindrical lenses or GRIN lenses rate presented. The modified 4 by 4 matrix notation which is closely connected with the common 2 by 2 matrix notation is proposed.
