Abstract
This paper presents a novel active vibration control technique using embedded or bonded Piezo-electric actuators and multi- channel fiber-optics sensors. The main principle of the technique is the application of actuator pulses at the calculated temporal and spatial locations on the structures based on the on-line estimated (or off-lined calculated) model parameters. The applied pulses introduce active vibration suppression. The simulation and experimental results demonstrated that the developed time-delay technique has superior performance over other conventional control techniques (e.g. PD and impedance control) in terms of overshoot, elapsed time for vibration suppression, actuator saturation limits, real-time computational aspects.
