Abstract
When users have to access remote services like heavy simulation or experimental facilities, they need highly interactive tools for results visualization or remote equipment steering. The complexity of these tools and their high application dependency requires them to be easily configurable for being well adapted to specific needs. Application Builders like AVS, IRIS Explorer, VTK and others are therefore well suited to fulfil this configurability requirement. However, usage of such programs requires specific computing configurations, in terms of operating systems and access rights for example, limiting the number of potential users. This paper presents how usage of Web technologies can help in solving some of these issues in remote simulation steering and visualization, keeping a high level of configurability and graphical interactions for the client.
