Abstract
A number of real-time video traffic monitor systems are currently being developed by the Texas Transportation Institute (TTI), Texas A&M University System, to demonstrate how new Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) technologies, such as wireless communication, ISDN communication, standard phone-line video compression technology, real-time video surveillance, and video image processing, can be better integrated. These systems were used to illustrate how video- based traffic monitoring and resource sharing can be better achieved to improve system efficiency and increase operational safety by operating agencies anywhere in the world.
