6 July 2001Moire patterns: nonconventional applications
Based on Lohmann's seminal work on gratings and zone plates, we present three nonconventional Moire techniques for signal processing. First, we describe an optical setup for implementing Erathosthenes sieve of prime numbers. Second, we discuss the use of Moire tiles for local parallel sensing. And finally, we propose a Babinet's technique for image storage. Experimental verifications are discussed.
