Abstract
Using a multilayer perceptron as classifier, random field images are recognized. The input vectors of the network are the means and the variances of the random field image power spectra. Four different classes of textures were classified and the results are compared with the classification of that same random field images by mean of synthetic spectral discriminant functions.
