Abstract
We present a new robust beamforming algorithm that can be used as an on-air on-frequency repeater. The major problem of a repeater is self interference of repeated signal. When we use an antenna array, the LCMV (linearly constrained minimum variance) beamformer would be ideal if the array response vector is perfectly known. However, the LCMV is very sensitive to array imperfection, and it may suppress the desired signal, too if we use an uncalibrated array. To alleviate this problem, many robust beamforming algorithms have been proposed. In this paper we propose another robust beamforming algorithm using cost-function minimization technique. Our algorithm shows good performance and does not require any information except the direction of arrival of the incoming repeating signal.
