5 March 2007Study on trap states in polyvinylcarbazole by thermally stimulated current spectrum
The carrier traps and process of charge trapping play a vital role of the Photorefractive effect (PR-effect), yet no
systematic attempt has been made to understand them in photorefractive polymers, In this paper, the measurement of
thermally stimulated current (TSC) spectrum and the analysis of it were completed in polyvinylcarbazole (PVK). The
trap states in PVK were characterized by the TSC spectrum, Some parameters, Such as depth, density and distribution of
traps were obtained, The result showed that there were 0.53∼1.0eV continuous distribution traps in PVK, and the
distribution was similar to Gauss law with a 0.77eV maximum. These data can provide a reference to the deeper
investigations of nature and mechanism for photorefractive polymers based on PVK.
