Abstract
A single-frequency continuous wave diode-pumped Nd:YVO4 laser emitting high-quality polarized beam at 914 nm is presented. An intracavity etalon with a free spectral range of 500 GHz was used to obtain single-mode operation in a short linear cavity. Smooth frequency tuning over a range of 5GHz was demonstrated. A laser output of 300 mW was obtained at the half frequency of the 1S03P1 transition of Mg24 atoms (327.830 THz). The second harmonic of this laser can be used for high-resolution spectroscopy of magnesium atoms.
