Abstract
Photonic crystal optical waveguides have the major advantage of maintaining light, confined inside them, even if the guide has sharp bends or splits into secondary optical channels. However, inside a certain network of waveguides with ramified branches, unwanted reflections still exists and in consequence modalities for reducing the energy sent back to the source and maximizing the one transmitted, have to be found. The purpose of this paper is to study the performances of a combined procedure which uses analytical formula and numerical simulations and whose final aim is focused on improving transmission and minimizing reflections.
