Abstract
This paper presents the performance of centroid determining algorithms for the ideal Gaussian stripe and Gaussian spot with added external noise. In the Gaussian spot case, for the binary images, centroid calculation was performed using weighted mean method. Morphological operations were used to filter out possible shape distortion, holes formation and scattering effects caused by the external noise. In case of grayscale images the method of calculating the centroid through Gaussian fitting curves was used and its accuracy visualized. In the Gaussian stripe case, a stripe was analyzed with different noises levels and with sub pixels shifting.
