Abstract
The task of analyzing and comparing different algorithms, methods and applications through sound testing is an essential qualification of algorithm design. A great limitation of image processing algorithm development lies in the difficulty to assess exhaustively the software, or at least, using a large and diverse number of cases for comparison. This work addresses a distributed and multicentric approach for medical image database environment and its implementation. The purpose is to design and make available a free, online, multipurpose and multimodality medical image database system. This database should include comprehensive, "hard" and unusual cases and be regularly updated with new imaging protocols, new modalities data from various clinical applications. These set of peer-reviewed data can be used in assessment tasks.
