Abstract
During the flight test of a Raytheon radar sensor in West Texas through 2007, Raytheon collected a wide variety of SAR images that showed evidence of atmospheric lensing. We have characterized the type of image artifacts that lensing creates, as well as the circumstances under which they occur. We also present evidence of a correlation between the artifacts and the presence of a humidity gradient detected in radiosonde measurements. The purpose of this presentation will be to show how these effects can be recognized in SAR images as well as indications of when they will be most severe.
