Abstract
A user friendly, PC/AT-based, high resolution fluoroscopic imaging computer has been developed and has been applied in routine clinical use. Diagnostic quality images are produced using the PPR (Pulsed Progressive Readout) technique and frame integration of live fluoro image technique. Hard copy images are conveniently produced using a multiformat camera or a laser imager. Clinical evaluations show that the quality of PPR image with 1024 by 1024 pixel resolution is equivalent to that of 105mm film image and approaches that of 9 inch cassette spot film image. The benefits of the fluoroscopic imaging computer include: radiation dose reduction, higher contrast sensitivity, enhanced resolution, immediate image viewing, elimination of retakes, lower operating cost and PAC's readiness.
