Abstract
Reported here is cryogenically-cooled performance of Er3+-doped Y2O3 laser at 2.7 μm based on 4I11/24I13/2 transitions and diode-pumped at 974 nm directly into an upper laser manifold 4I11/2. Efficiency of cryogenically cooled performance is getting close to its quantum defect limited value of ~30%.
