10 January 2011Data vortex photonic network with non-crossing control links layout
This paper explores better physical layouts of the routing and control links within a multi-stage packet switched photonic
network known as Data Vortex network architecture. For minimum signal interference and best synchronization, the
proposed physical layouts allow for a non-crossing arrangement of the electrical control links while keeping the same simple
optical routing paths patterns at specified routing levels. A general guidance is given for constructing such arrangements, and
several examples are given in the discussion. The modified layouts allow for an easy optical implementation for the 3-D
architecture, and they enable optimized the signal quality and effective synchronization of the physical systems.
