Abstract
In this paper, we present an efficient and robust lane markers detection algorithm using the log-polar transform and the random sample consensus (RANSAC). To extract the optimal lane marker points, we set firstly the regions of interest (ROIs) with variable block size and perform the preprocessing steps within ROIs. Then, to fit the lane model, these points are transformed to the log-polar space and then we use the RANSAC curve fitting algorithm to detect the exact lane markers of road. The various real road experimental results are presented to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.
