Abstract
A method used for improving the performance of the digital watermarking based on the modification of image pixels is proposed in this paper. In the embedding process, the watermark bits are partially embedded into the blue component of the image pixels. The criteria used to determine whether a watermark bit embedding is performed or not is derived from the variance of neighbor pixels of the embedding pixel. The same criteria are used in the watermark extraction process to identity positions of the watermarked pixels. The experimental result show the improved performance in term of NC, compared to the previous methods. The improved robustness of the proposed method against various common imaging processing based attacks e.g. additive Gaussian noise, JPEG compression standard and image cropping at various strengths is also presented and compared.
