Abstract

This chapter highlights camera design features that may affect performance. Together with the preceding chapters, it provides the necessary information to compare and analyze camera systems. In principle, any size of array can be manufactured; the problem is how to create a viewable image. This forces array sizes to be consistent with standard displays. If an array has more pixels than are supported by the display, only a portion of the field of view can be displayed. Downsampling is always possible, but this reduces resolution.
