Quaternions and Color Images

Abstract
Many ways can be found to apply the theory of quaternion numbers in imaging. In this chapter, we consider the grayscale and color images and their mappings to the quaternion space from the well-known color models. Different models of mapping one of a few grayscale and color images into the quaternion space are considered. The presentation of the real image in the quaternion space, allows for developing new methods of image representation and processing, which include image enhancement, filtration, and restoration.
