Abstract
An efficient holographic optical element that combines the beammultiplexing properties of binary-phase computer-generated holograms with the efficiency of volume holograms formed in dichromated gelatin is described. Experimental results for an element that improves both the efficiency and the signal-to-noise ratio of a computer-generated hologram are presented. The possibility of using this element as an optical interconnect is discussed.
