The NASA-LRC Telespectrograph is described and the principle technical features are discussed. The design objectives of tracking accuracy and sensitivity are presented, with preliminary test results conducted at NOTS. Data from the Project FIRE mission, as well as data from selected targets of opportunity tracked at Ascension Island, is presented and discussed. The future use of the instrument and planned improvements is discussed.

The FOSDIC System requires that machine tabulation cards be copied onto 16mm film, the records from 13,000 cards occupying one 100 ft. reel. The exposed film is processed and printed in a "clean room area". The largest permissable size for foreign particles is 10 microns. Information retrieval, or printing from the film records back to cards, employs techniques using a flying spot scanner. Hence the need for elimination of larger size foreign particles. Specific cards may be recreated on demand.

Design and breadboarding of a technique to detect and locate a bright spot in a scanned image, employing video digital methods. Application is to detection and location of flares on the sun's disc, important primarily because of the danger to space travel from such flares. The conceptual design of the system is presented, and procedures employed in obtaining performance data are described. Experimental measurements and results are included.
