A six-wavelength hybrid dense-wavelength-division-multiplexing (DWDM) system with CATV, 256-QAM, and OC-48 (2.5 Gb/s) video and digital trunking applications, which employ optical vestigial sideband (VSB) filters to improve system performances, are proposed and demonstrated. Excellent performances of composite second order (CSO) and composite triple beat (CTB) are obtained, accompanied by acceptable carrier-to-noise ratio (CNR) value for CATV. Low bit error rate (BER) is also achieved for the 256-QAM and OC-48 digital channels in our proposed system.
