Abstract
An analysis of laser backscattering enhancement is pursued to probe the parameters that affect a laser radar cross-section (LRCS) measurement. The performance of backscattering enhancement is investigated by calculating the LRCS of the conducting targets with a finite size. E-wave polarization is assumed for incident waves in continuous random media. Targets configuration and the beam size in addition to the spatial coherency are those parameters that are studied to clarify their effects on the accuracy of the LRCS compared to the case of a plane wave incidence in a free space and random media.
