Profile Summary

Alan Lyons joined the faculty of the College of Staten Island and the Graduate School of the City University of New Yorkin September 2008 as a Professor in the Department of Chemistry. At CSI his group is focused on the fabrication and properties of superhydrophobic polymeric materials, 3D printing technologies and materials for thermal management applications. Prior to joining CUNY, Dr. Lyons worked at Bell Laboratories where he was a Distinguished Member of Technical Staff and conducted research in polymer chemistry, material science and the thermal management of electronics. He was a founding member of Bell Labs Ireland where he built a thermal management research group and was responsible for major innovations in the areas of thermal interface materials and cooling architectures for central office equipment. Dr. Lyons has authored over 30 refereed publications and 29 issued US patents.
