SC391: Fabrication of Aspheric Glass Lenses and Ultra Precise Optics using Magnetorheological Finishing (MRF)
This course provides attendees with a general understanding of the benefits of aspheres, along with the challenges associated with fabrication and testing. The course concentrates on proven technologies that can be implemented on the shop floor today. A detailed description is provided with respect to the key enabling technologies and commercial equipment required for asphere fabrication, including CNC generating / pre-polishing, magnetorheological finishing, and aspheric metrology. It also covers the methodologies and challenges in producing ultra high precision optical surfaces using magnetorheological finishing.
