Profile Summary

Prof. Junwen Zhang was born in Hubei, China in 1988. He received the M.Eng. degree from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, China, in 2005, and the Ph. D degree from Fudan University, China, in 2015. He finished his post-doctor research program in Georgia Tech as the lab manager in GT/NSF-sponsored Research Center of Fiber-wireless Integration and Networking (FiWIN).
He is currently a professor of Fudan University, working on 6G optics and high-speed optical communications for metro and access networks. Before joining Fudan, he worked in both industry and academia research labs, including CableLabs, ZTE(Tx) and Georgia Tech from 2015 to 2020. Prof. Zhang’s research includes high-speed optical transmission, digital signal processing, fiber-wireless integration, high-speed optical access network, mobile fronthaul/backhaul etc. He has published more than journal and conference 190 papers, 1 edited book and 2 book chapters on high-speed optical transmission, access and signal processing, including 6 OFC top-scored papers. He has been granted 12 US patents in his research area. Prof. Zhang received Marconi Society Paul Baran Young Scholar Award in 2016, IEEE Photonics Society Graduate Student Fellowship and Wang Daheng Optics Award in 2013. He has been the TPC member of the OFC 2019-2022, SPIE Photonic West 2017-2021, 2023, also served as the co-chair of IEEE Summer Topical Meeting 2019, and was the Chair of Optical Access Networks Technical Program Subcommittee (N4) in OFC 2022. He is the associate editor of IEEE Photonics Journal, Frontiers in Communications and Networks , guest editor of IEEE Network, and received 2019 Best Reviewer Award of Journal of Lightwave Technologies.
