Abstract
Our previous work on image processing with our real time TV rate image processing system (RAPAC) has been concerned with road vehicle tracking through junctions'. This paper describes various techniques which have been used for classification of road traffic while the vehicles are in motion. The techniques vary from simple size deter-mination corrected for changing vehicle perspective, to outline analyses of moving targets. As in all this work, emphasis has been placed on algorithmic techniques which allow realisation compatable with the speed and pipeline architecture requirements of RAPAC.
