Abstract
A study of the distortions of the wavefront of a laser beam, passed through an axially symmetric nonisobaric supersonic jet is performed. It has been shown analytically and demonstrated in experiments at the Vertical Jet Unit of the Institute of Applied Mathematics and Mathematics SB RAS that (Novosibirsk) the set of average local slopes of the wavefront of the beam in the plane behind the jet reflects the basic elements of the spatial structure of the jet (Mach disk, internal and external mixing layer, hanging and associated jumps). On the basis of measuring the local slopes of the wavefront of the transilluminated beam for various npr values (pressure ratio in the pre-chamber and surrounding space), images of the corresponding jets are constructed. The obtained results form the basis of the non-contact study of the spatial distribution of density inhomogeneities in supersonic flows with a complex structure.
