Abstract
To efficiently provide access to proposals containing dozens or hundreds of blocks, the Southern African Large Telescope (SALT) has completely redone its browser-based proposal viewing tool. It now comes with a RESTful API allowing users not only to retrieve proposal content, make status changes and estimate observation probabilities, but also to programmatically submit proposals, with finding charts created automatically. One of its goals is compatibility with the Astronomical Event Observatory Network (AEON). It also constitutes an important step towards integration with the South African Astronomical Observatory’s Intelligent Observatory. The API is realized with FastAPI, the frontend with Angular. Tests use real data without compromising confidentiality.
